The floor also has a playroom with toys, activity and materials and audio-visuals for the children's amusement. These activities are co-ordinated by a play therapist and social workers who spend time with the admitted children and counsel and support the relatives/parents of sick children admitted to the ward. One wing is the Paediatric Intensive Care Unit (PICU) with 6 beds offering level III intensive care and 3 "step-down" beds.
Some of the procedures done in the unit are ventilation, peritoneal dialysis, plasmapheresis, etc. The floor and PICU is equipped to deal with all types of complex and critically ill patients and is manned by qualified post-graduate resident doctors round the clock. The floor also houses surgical cases belonging to the paediatric age group.
